Abstract: The Spanish counter-revolutionary’s formulations, in relation to
the politic representation (Absolutists of Cadiz, Carlists, Neo-Catholics),
are inheritors of those proclaimed by several European intellectuals
in their fight against the French Revolution. Their key argument is
the upholding of the Ancient Regime’s Assembly as they considered
them to have been perverted during the previous reigns. Their ideas,
rather than forming a corpus, can be traced through their responses
to isolated questions, all of them based on the rejection of the universal
suffrage.
