Sin constituir un tema sobresaliente, el afrancesamiento se benefició
de la coyuntura del bicentenario para conocer un paso adelante
en su estudio. Biografías, estudios locales, sobre el clero y las mujeres
han aportado datos de interés. Sin embargo, lo más importante
es quizá una reflexión sobre los motivos que incitaron a ciertos individuos
a elegir el bando josefino, y sobre la identificación del grupo por
sí mismo y por los demás. Al final, el término y la categoría «afrancesado
» resulta problemático, tanto para designar a los que colaboraron
con los franceses, como para designar la experiencia política de los antiguos
josefinos que desempeñaron un papel relevante después de la
Guerra de la Independencia.

Abstract: The afrancesamiento was not an important theme of the bicentenary,
however, the good scientific situation allowed a development of
the studies on this theme. Biographies, local studies, studies about clergymen
or women have provided new facts. However, the most important
development has been the reflection on the motives which incited
those men to take the side of King Joseph Bonaparte and on the identification
of this group by themselves and by others. Finally, the term
and the category «afrancesado» are problematic to define people who
collaborated, but also to indicate the political experience of the ancient
partisans of Joseph after the Independence war.
