Desde 1816, la Neue Wache ha sido utilizada como espacio memorial,
albergando la conmemoración alemana a la victoria, la derrota,
los caídos, los mártires del nazismo, el antifascismo y la nueva conciencia
nacional unificada. Se trata de un mismo espacio que ha servido
para diferentes sistemas políticos y para conmemorar diversos hechos
históricos. Pero también ha servido para aglutinar los diferentes
tipos de víctimas del Tercer Reich y el Holocausto aunque, a pesar de
todo, algunas de las víctimas todavía han quedado fuera de la conmemoración.

Abstract: Since 1816, the Neue Wache has been used as a memorial space,
housing the German commemoration to victory, defeat, the fallen martyrs
of Nazism, anti-fascism and the new unified national consciousness.
It is the same memorial space that has served to different political
systems and to commemorate different historical events. But it has
also served to bring together different types of victims of the Third
Reich
and the Holocaust although, nevertheless, some of the victims
were still left out of the celebration.
