Abstract: Born outside the Socialist Party in 1921, the Co -
mmu nist Party of Belgium (CPB) only exceeded
the dimensions of a small group thanks to the violent
strikes of 1932 in opposition to the nervousness
of the social democrat leaders. The CPB experienced
a relative blooming during the period of the antifascism and the big victorious strikes of 1936.
The resistance of CPB to the Nazi occupant allowed
it to develop a great social movement although this
abandoned the party in peacetime. Isolated and
reduced during the period of the cold war, the party
obtained partial successes due to some initiatives replicas de relojes españa of
opening and modernity, nevertheless they were
shattered by a ouvriériste base and it was not able to
carry out another alternative line. The presence of
the Communist Party of Belgium obliged the social
democracy to keep at least a critical discourse
against capitalism. The demise of the CPB provoked
an about-turn of this Social Democracy,
dominant in the working class, towards a socialliberalism without limits.
