La política exterior del primer gobierno de Juan Domingo Perón
(1946-1955), marcada por el lenguaje populista propio del proyecto
peronista, supuso un desafío importante para Chile durante el
gobierno de Carlos Ibáñez (1952-1958). Las múltiples similitudes entre
ambos liderazgos llevaron a muchos a creer que era posible replicar en
Chile, con matices, el modelo peronista ya instalado en Argentina. Pese
a que existían voces en el entorno de Ibáñez que apuntaban en esa dirección,
en la política exterior histórica del Estado chileno influyó en
mayor medida la política de su gobierno ante Argentina que el parentesco
retórico existente entre los proyectos Perón e Ibáñez.

Abstract: The foreign policy of the first government of Juan Domingo
Perón (1946-1955), marked by the populist rhetoric inherent to the
Peronist project, posed an important challenge for Chile during the
administration of Carlos Ibáñez (1952-1958). The multiple similarities
between the leadership of both men led many to believe that it
was possible to replicate in Chile, with a few differences, the Peronist
model already established in Argentina. Despite the existence of voices
in Ibañez’s entourage that pointed towards that objective, the historic foreign policy of the Chilean state influenced the policies of his administration
towards Argentina to a larger extent than the rhetorical kinship
between Perón e Ibáñez did.
