Este artículo pretende ofrecer una visión panorámica de los servicios
proporcionados por el municipio a los habitantes de los pueblos
y ciudades españolas en el periodo decimonónico. Una etapa iniciada
con la revolución liberal que supondrá un cambio en las estructuras
políticas del país, acompañado de un proceso de reformas económicas
y sociales capaces de modificar por completo su fisonomía. La institución
municipal, impregnada de consignas liberales, intentará que las
innovaciones realizadas lleven a la población hacia el progreso y hacia
metas impensables a comienzos del siglo. Los logros serán más lentos
de lo previsto inicialmente, pero, a lo largo del siglo, conseguirán ampliar
las miradas de buena parte de la sociedad española.

Abstract: This article aims to provide an overview of the services provided
by the municipality to the inhabitants of villages and Spanish towns
in the nineteenth century period. A stage began with the liberal revolution
that will mean a change in the political structures of the country,
accompanied by a process of economic and social reforms capable
of completely changing his appearance. The municipal institution,
imbued with liberal slogans, sought innovations made to bring the
people towards progress towards goals and unthinkable at the beginning
of the century. The achievements will be slower than initially anticipated,
but throughout the century, successfully expanded the eyes
of much of Spanish society.
