El nombre de Pol Pot está asociado a uno de los
crímenes más terribles de motivación política en
el siglo XX. Primero, este artículo explicará los
conceptos más importantes relacionados con el régimen de Pol Pot, luego resumirá el desarrollo
histórico-cultural de Camboya, describirá la vida
bajo el régimen de Pol Pot y finalmente proporcionará
al lector una respuesta lo más clara posible
de la pregunta formulada en el título. La respuesta
a la pregunta de si Camboya (o Kampuchea)
bajo Pol Pot (1975-1979) fue un régimen
totalitario es que el régimen puede sin ninguna
duda ser llamado totalitario. Sin embargo,
debe ser tomado en cuenta el hecho de que
Camboya fue (¿es?) un país sin una tradición
democrática, y que ciertas estructuras (tales como
un poder judicial independiente) no existían antes
del régimen o estaban comenzando a aparecer.

Abstract: The name of Pol Pot is associated with one of the
most terrible politically motivated crimes of the
20th century. This article will first explain the
important terms in connection with Pol Pot’s
regime, then go on to outline Cambodia’s historical-
cultural development, describe life under
Pol Pot’s regime, and finally provide the reader as
far as possible with an answer to the question
posed in the title. The answer to the question of
whether or not Cambodia (Kampuchea) under
Pol Pot (1975-1979) was a totalitarian regime is
that the regime can without doubt be called totalitarian.
However, the fact must be taken into
account that Cambodia was (is?) a country without
democratic tradition, and that therefore
certain structures –such as an independent judiciary–
had not existed prior to the regime or were
just starting to emerge.

Résumé: Le nom de Pol Pot est associé à une des crimes le
plus térribles de motivation politique du siécle
XX. Premierèment, cet article nous explique les
concepts les plus importants rélationés avec le
régimen de Pol Pot, après il résumerai le developpe
historique-cultural à Camboya, il décrirai la
vie au-desosus le régimen de Pol Post et finalement
nous donnerai une réponse le plus claire
possible vers la démande formulé dans le tître. La
réponsse`au question si Camboya (o Kampuchée),
au-dessous Pol Pot (1975-1979) fut un
régimen totalitariste est-ce que le régime peut
sans aucune doute être appelée totalitaire. Mais, il doit être mis en compte le fait de que Camboya
dut (elle est) une pays sin aucune tradition démocratique,
et que certains structures (tels qu’un
pouvoir juditial indépendant) il n’existerai pas
avant le régimen ou ils ont en train d’apparaître.
