El artículo analiza cuatro recientes biografías sobre destacados
personajes políticos españoles del siglo xix y primera mitad del siglo
xx, que confirman el excelente estado que actualmente atraviesa el
género biográfico en España. Después de tratar de la novedad que suponen
estas obras y describir su contenido, se exponen algunas consideraciones
generales sobre la información que proporcionan, la calidad
de la interpretación, la componente literaria, la ejemplaridad de
los personajes y el grado de identificación de los autores con ellos.

Abstract: The article deals with four recent biographies of some of the
most important people in the political scene in Spain during the nineteenth
century and the first half of the twentieth century. These books
confirm the excellent situation of the biography genre in Spanish historiography.
After analyzing the novelty and the content of the studies,
it concludes with some general considerations about the information
given
by them, the quality of the interpretations, the literary component,
the exemplarity of the subjects of study, and the degree of identification
of the authors with them.
